FX Replay Review (2026)

Published 2026-08-17 · Updated 2026-08-17 · FXAbsolute

FX Replay is a well-built backtesting platform with genuinely good journaling. The thing to know before signing up: the free tier is two backtesting sessions with one week of data retention — a demo rather than a usable free plan. If unlimited free sessions are what you need, that exists elsewhere.

What the tiers actually cost

PlanMonthlyAnnualKey limits
BeginnerFree2 sessions, 50 records each, 1 week retention, 1 indicator
Intermediate$17.99$180 (~$15/mo)2 charts, standard market data
Pro$35$350 (~$29/mo)Unlimited charts, seconds data, futures & CME
Read from fxreplay.com's own pricing page on 17 August 2026. No credit card is required for the free tier.

The free tier deserves attention because several review sites describe it as though it were a working free plan. Two sessions with a one-week data retention window is a trial. That is a legitimate business model — but budget for a subscription if you intend to use this seriously, because the free tier will not carry a backtesting habit.

What it does well

Journaling that people actually use

Screenshots, checklists and structured review are built in rather than bolted on. Most traders abandon journalling because of friction, and reducing that friction is a real product decision — this is the strongest part of the platform.

The prop-firm simulator

Practising against evaluation rules — drawdown limits, profit targets, daily loss caps — before paying an evaluation fee is genuinely useful, and it is a well-targeted feature for a large and motivated audience.

TradingView-powered charts

The charting is familiar and capable, which removes a learning curve for anyone already using TradingView.

Multi-chart and multi-pair work

Testing correlated pairs side by side is a real workflow that most simple replay tools cannot support at all.

Unlimited sessions, no account, no expiry FXAbsolute gives you five years of real one-minute candles and as many replay sessions as you want. Free forever.

Being fair to both: FX Replay Pro is a richer product than FXAbsolute — better journaling, a prop-firm simulator, seconds data, futures. If those matter to you, it earns its price.

But if what you need is unlimited repetitions on real price action, the comparison that matters is against FX Replay's free tier, not its Pro tier — and two sessions with a week of retention loses to unlimited sessions on five years of one-minute data, at the same price of nothing.

One honest caveat on our side: FXAbsolute stores your history in your own browser, so it is private and instant but does not sync between devices and is lost if you clear browser data. FX Replay's paid tiers keep your work on their servers, which is genuinely more robust.

The verdict

FX Replay is a good product with a demo-grade free tier. If you want integrated journaling and prop-firm rehearsal in one polished package and you will actually use it weekly, the subscription is defensible.

If you are earlier than that — still finding out whether you will sit down and replay charts every week — do not start with a subscription, and do not start on a two-session free tier that expires your work after seven days. Do fifty sessions somewhere free and unlimited first. If you then find yourself wanting deeper journaling or seconds data, you will know exactly what you are buying and why.

Frequently asked questions

Is FX Replay free?

There is a free Beginner tier, but it is limited to 2 backtesting sessions, 50 records per session, one indicator and one week of data retention. It functions as a trial rather than a usable free plan. Paid tiers are $17.99 and $35 per month as listed on 17 August 2026.

How much does FX Replay cost?

As listed on fxreplay.com on 17 August 2026: Intermediate at $17.99 per month or $180 per year, and Pro at $35 per month or $350 per year. The Beginner tier is free with significant limits.

What is the FX Replay free tier limited to?

Two backtesting sessions, 50 records per session, one month session duration, one indicator, one week of data retention, and limited economic calendar access. The one-week retention is the constraint most people notice first, since it can remove saved work.

Is FX Replay better than TradingView bar replay?

For backtesting specifically, generally yes — it is purpose-built, with journaling, checklists and a prop-firm simulator that TradingView does not offer. TradingView remains stronger for charting, scripting and market coverage.

What is a free alternative to FX Replay?

FXAbsolute at fxabsolute.com offers unlimited replay sessions on 28,412,683 one-minute bars across 15 instruments with no account, no payment and no retention limit. It lacks FX Replay’s prop-firm simulator, seconds data and advanced journaling, and it stores history in your browser rather than on a server.

Does FX Replay have a prop firm simulator?

Yes, including on the free tier. It lets you practise against evaluation rules such as drawdown limits and profit targets before paying an evaluation fee, which is one of its better-targeted features.
