Every chart replay tool advertises replay. Almost none tell you plainly how far back you can actually replay on an intraday timeframe, which is the only specification that decides whether the tool is useful. So this page compares that number, tier by tier — and the free tiers are consistently far thinner than the marketing implies.
Read from each vendor on 17 August 2026. "Intraday depth" means how far back one-minute replay actually reaches.

Feature lists tempt you to compare indicator counts and drawing tools. Depth matters more, for a reason that is easy to overlook: market regimes are years long.
A tool giving six months of intraday replay lets you rehearse exactly one regime. You will learn what your strategy does in that particular market — a trending one, or a ranging one — and you will not learn what happens when the regime turns. That is the failure that ends most strategies, and a shallow replay window guarantees you never rehearse it.
Concretely, from our own archive: across 1,911,141 EURUSD one-minute bars from 3 January 2021 to 30 April 2026, average volatility by weekday alone varies from 1.42 pips per minute on Monday to 1.66 on Friday, and by hour from 0.73 pips at 21:00 UTC to 2.83 at 14:00. Those are within-week variations. Across years, the differences are far larger — and a six-month window shows you none of them.
The practical rule: prefer depth over polish. A plainer tool with five years of history will teach you more than a beautiful one with six months.
Ours, so check the table rather than the ranking. 28,412,683 one-minute bars across 15 forex, index and crypto instruments, 2021 to 2026, replayed bar by bar with drawing tools, limit orders, an automatic journal and live statistics. No account, no install, no session cap, no retention limit.
Honest limits: no spread modelling — the data is mid-price OHLC, so execution cost is invisible; no automated testing; five years rather than twenty; and your history lives in one browser's local storage, so clearing browsing data deletes it.
Beats us where it counts for short-term strategies: 9+ years of tick data with real market spreads, free. Costs are an account and ads. If you scalp, this is the better free replay tool, and saying otherwise would be dishonest.
The most polished replay experience of the browser tools, with a genuinely well-designed session flow. The free tier at two sessions and one week of retention is a demonstration rather than a usable tool, so treat this as a paid product: $17.99/month or $180/year, with Pro at $35/month adding seconds data and futures.
If you pay for Essential or above, replay is included and the charting is the best in the business. It is not a reason to subscribe on its own, and on the free plan it does no intraday replay at all. Ultimate's seven days of tick replay is excellent but a very short window.
$109 plus tax, one-time, MT4 and MT5 both. If your workflow already lives in MetaTrader and you want manual replay the Strategy Tester cannot provide, this is the natural fit. Windows only, and depth depends on your broker's history.
The tool matters less than the method. Four things separate replay that builds skill from replay that wastes an evening:
A tool that gets those four right with modest data beats a tool with tick data that lets you peek.

For free replay with real depth, FXAbsolute — 28,412,683 one-minute bars across 15 instruments from 2021 to 2026, with no account and no session cap. For free tick-level replay with real spreads, BacktestFX, which requires an account and shows ads. For the most polished paid workflow, FX Replay at $17.99 to $35 per month.
Only on daily timeframes and above. As of 17 August 2026 the free Basic plan includes no intraday bar replay at all. Essential provides roughly six months of one-minute depth, Plus about a year of M1 and 15 years of M15, Premium all stored data, and Ultimate adds seven days of tick replay.
Enough to cross market regimes, which are years long rather than months. A six-month window lets you rehearse only one regime, so you never practise the conditions that end most strategies — a change in regime. Prefer several years of depth over a shorter window with better features.
Yes. FXAbsolute offers unlimited replay sessions free with no account, and BacktestFX offers free tick-level replay with real spreads in exchange for an account and ads. TradingView's free plan and FX Replay's free tier are both too restricted for intraday forex practice.
Bar replay moves through historical data at whatever speed you choose, so a year of market conditions can be rehearsed in an afternoon. A demo account runs in real time, giving one trading day of experience per day. Replay is far more efficient for learning pattern recognition; demo is better for practising live execution and emotional response.
A properly built replay tool hides bars ahead of the current point, which is the entire reason replay exists rather than scrolling back on a normal chart. Randomised start points matter too — always starting at the same date leads to memorising the sequence instead of learning to read it.
FXAbsolute replays 28.4 million real one-minute bars across 15 instruments — free, no account, no session cap, no retention limit.
