FXAbsolute's competition has a unique feature: you can view other traders' public sessions. So I did. 50 sessions — 10 from each rank tier E through SSS. I recorded every stat: win rate, trade count, average RR, drawdown, pair choice, session duration. I was looking for what SSS-ranked traders do that E-ranked traders don't. The answer wasn't what I expected.
I assumed SSS traders would have higher win rates. They don't.
| Metric | E-D Rank | C-B Rank | A-S Rank | SS-SSS Rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Avg Win Rate | 41% | 47% | 53% | 55% |
| Avg Profit Factor | 0.62 | 1.12 | 1.84 | 3.21 |
| Avg RR (realized) | 0.9:1 | 1.3:1 | 1.8:1 | 2.9:1 |
| Avg Trades/Session | 24 | 18 | 11 | 9 |
| Avg SL Size (pips) | 8 | 14 | 22 | 28 |
SSS traders don't win more often. They win bigger when they win, and lose smaller when they lose. The win rate difference between E and SSS is only 14%. The profit factor difference is 5x. That gap doesn't come from better entries. It comes from asymmetric risk management.
1. They use wider stops and bigger targets. E-rank traders use 8-pip stops to "limit risk." But tight stops get hunted. SSS traders use 25-35 pip stops with 70-100 pip targets. They accept that stops will get hit sometimes — but when the trade works, it pays for 5 losers.
2. They trade half as many setups. E-rank traders average 24 trades per session. SSS: 9. That's not laziness. It's selectivity. SSS traders pass on 60% of setups that lower-ranked traders take. They wait for the A+ setups — levels with 4+ touches, clear structure, no conflicting signals.
3. They don't close winners early. I tracked partial closes. E-rank traders closed 50% of positions at 1:1 RR — "locking in profit." SSS traders let 85% of positions run to full TP. They understand that one 3:1 RR winner offsets three 1:1 RR losers. Closing early kills the math.
4. They specialize in one pair. 80% of SSS traders stuck to a single pair across all sessions (mostly XAUUSD or GBPUSD). E-rank traders averaged 3.2 pairs per session. Mastery beats variety at the top level.
5. Their losing session recovery is slow and deliberate. After a losing session, E-rank traders increased trade size by 40% on the next session (revenge sizing). SSS traders decreased trade size by 15%. They protected capital during tilt windows.
