How the Competition Works

When a new contest round opens (daily, weekly, monthly or 6-month), FXAbsolute's algorithm picks a random historical period from 5 years of real forex data. Every trader who enters that round backtests the exact same period on the exact same pair. There is no advantage — only skill.

Your score is calculated from four metrics and posted to the global leaderboard. The higher you rank in each contest, the faster you climb through the 8-tier ranking system.

The Ranking System — E to SSS

FXAbsolute uses an 8-tier ranking system inspired by competitive gaming. Every trader starts at E Rank and climbs by improving their backtesting scores.

How Your Score is Calculated

• Win Rate — up to 350 points. Higher win rate = higher score.
• Profit Factor — up to 350 points. Profit factor of 4+ earns maximum points.
• Average Risk-Reward — up to 200 points. Better RR ratio = better score.
• Trade Count Bonus — up to 100 points. Reward for taking enough trades to prove consistency.
• Maximum total: 1000 points. SSS Rank requires 951+ points.

Is the forex competition really free?

Yes. The XAUUSD daily, weekly, monthly and 6-month contests are completely free. EURUSD, GBPUSD and USDJPY contests require Pro at $16/month.

Is the competition fair?

Yes. FXAbsolute uses a seeded random algorithm — every trader in the same round gets the exact same historical period. The only variable is your trading skill.

How often do contests reset?

Daily contests reset every 24 hours. Weekly contests reset every Monday. Monthly contests reset on the 1st of each month. 6-month contests reset every January and July.

Can I enter the same contest multiple times?

Yes. You can backtest the same period multiple times and your best score is recorded on the leaderboard.

What is SSS Rank?

SSS Rank is the highest rank in FXAbsolute's competition system. It requires a score of 951 or above out of 1000 — meaning near-perfect win rate, profit factor, risk-reward ratio, and trade count. Only the best traders in the world reach SSS Rank.
