XAUUSD (gold) is the highest-pip-value instrument most retail traders touch. On M15, a single London open candle can cover 200–500 pips. That volatility makes gold both the most rewarding and most punishing instrument to trade — and one of the most important to backtest before risking real money.

Duplicate the XAUUSD M15 journal and place scheduled high-impact US releases in their own group. Use the same entry definition in both. The purpose is not to assume news is better or worse; it is to stop a few exceptional bars from defining the ordinary-session result.
- Use the event schedule that was known at the historical timestamp.
- Declare spread and slippage rules for each group.
- Resolve bars containing both exit levels with lower-timeframe data or a conservative rule.
