## Direct answer

FXAbsolute measured **30,119 one-minute Dukascopy XAUUSD bid candles** in June 2026. Using fixed UTC month boundaries, gold opened at **$4,539.295**, reached a high of **$4,545.695**, a low of **$3,941.528**, and closed at **$4,005.485** per troy ounce. The open-to-close change was **-$533.81**, or **-11.760%**.

The high occurred at 2026-06-01T00:04:00Z; the low occurred later at 2026-06-30T01:07:00Z. The observed high-to-later-low move was -13.291%, followed by a +1.623% recovery from the low into the month close.

These are bid prices and UTC aggregations. They are not COMEX futures settlements, the LBMA benchmark, ask prices, mid prices, New York-close broker candles, or retail gold prices per gram.

## Key findings

- The median weekday high-low range was $91.57, or 2.106% of the date's open.
- 01:00-02:00 had the largest median hourly range in this one-month sample: $29.969 across 22 qualifying weekday blocks.
- 1,462 observed M1 closes were below $4,000 across 4 UTC dates. The first was 2026-06-24T12:56:00Z; the minimum M1 close was $3,944.448.
- 2026-06-10 was the weakest close-to-close date at -4.144%. 2026-06-11 was the strongest at +4.269% and had the widest weekday range, $210.57.

## Every June 2026 UTC weekday

Daily OHLC is rebuilt from the observed M1 bids. Friday rows can end before UTC midnight. Sunday-open fragments remain in the month source count but are not promoted into separate weekday rows. No missing minute is filled.

## Fixed UTC hourly ranges

Each date-hour block must contain at least 45 observed M1 candles. Values below are the median and p90 high-low range across qualifying weekday blocks in June 2026. This answers what happened in this month; it does not establish a universal best hour to trade.

## June 2026 versus the previous five Junes

Dollar range expands mechanically when the price level is higher, so median daily range as a percentage of open is the fairer volatility comparison. Six calendar observations are not enough to establish a seasonal effect.

| June | M1 rows | Open | High | Low | Close | Return | Median weekday range | Median range / open |
|---:|---:|---:|---:|---:|---:|---:|---:|---:|
| 2021 | 28,978 | 1,907.978 | 1,916.485 | 1,750.488 | 1,768.138 | -7.329% | $21.27 | 1.202% |
| 2022 | 30,209 | 1,836.318 | 1,878.763 | 1,802.618 | 1,806.428 | -1.628% | $21.26 | 1.164% |
| 2023 | 30,075 | 1,966.225 | 1,983.315 | 1,892.915 | 1,919.538 | -2.374% | $21.32 | 1.100% |
| 2024 | 27,567 | 2,327.425 | 2,387.595 | 2,286.628 | 2,324.825 | -0.112% | $30.59 | 1.320% |
| 2025 | 28,949 | 3,298.375 | 3,451.085 | 3,244.925 | 3,312.298 | +0.422% | $53.76 | 1.616% |
| 2026 | 30,119 | 4,539.295 | 4,545.695 | 3,941.528 | 4,005.485 | -11.760% | $91.57 | 2.106% |

June 2026 had the largest negative return and largest median weekday range percentage among these six June samples. This is descriptive, not a significance test.

## The newly available May-August 2026 stretch

August is partial through 2026-08-30T23:59:00Z and is not treated as a completed month.

| June 2026 | 30,119 | 4,539.295 | 4,545.695 | 3,941.528 | 4,005.485 | -11.760% | $91.57 |

## Why two June gold-price tables can disagree

A difference is not automatically a data error. “Gold price” can refer to different instruments, quote sides, calendars, and observation rules.

- **Instrument:** This page measures spot XAUUSD from Dukascopy. COMEX futures have expiries and can trade at a basis to spot. The LBMA benchmark is a fixing at a specific time. Retail bullion tables may convert into grams and add currency, purity, tax, or dealer adjustments.
- **Quote side:** Every value here is a bid. Ask and midpoint charts can print slightly higher values. That distinction matters when comparing a precise monthly high, low, or $4,000 crossing.
- **Day boundary:** This study uses UTC dates and months. Many brokers build D1 candles from a New York-close day. Identical M1 prices can therefore produce different daily opens, closes, candle counts, and percentage returns.
- **Observation rule:** FXAbsolute does not fill closed periods with flat bars. Monthly extremes use observed M1 highs and lows, while the below-$4,000 count uses M1 closes. Daily-close and futures-settlement tables answer different questions.

For a fair comparison, align instrument, quote side, calendar boundary, and observation rule. The CSV makes all four inspectable.

## Source and append integrity

The current production file contains 1,989,529 XAUUSD M1 candles and runs from 2021-01-03T23:00:00Z through 2026-08-30T23:59:00Z. It is stored as a four-byte big-endian candle count followed by fixed 20-byte records: one uint32 Unix timestamp and four float32 OHLC values.

The earlier FXAbsolute gold studies used the first 1,871,487 candles. The current header contains the larger count, so the analyzer reconstructs the old header over the current prefix before hashing it. Both the earlier published snapshot and the reconstructed current prefix produce the SHA-256 b3472e52f51bae343be941a8e8fb6dbdbc8749896c907b6ef77144b9b8c5cd63.

That proves the previous history stayed byte-for-byte unchanged. 118,042 candles were appended, and the append seam is 60 seconds.

## Methodology

1. **Calendar:** All month and date boundaries use UTC. A weekday row is one Monday-through-Friday UTC calendar date, not an exchange settlement bar or a broker-specific New York-close D1 candle.
2. **Month open and close:** Month open is the first observed bid open at or after 00:00 UTC on June 1. Month close is the last observed bid close before 00:00 UTC on July 1.
3. **Daily range:** Highest observed M1 bid high minus lowest observed M1 bid low on each UTC weekday.
4. **Hourly range:** For each fixed UTC hour on each weekday, high minus low is calculated only when at least 45 M1 candles are observed. Published hourly values summarize those qualifying date-hour blocks.
5. **Return:** Open-to-close percentage return is close divided by open minus one. Close-to-close daily return uses the previous observed UTC weekday close.
6. **Comparisons:** Complete-month ranking excludes the partial first and current edge months in the production file. Historical-June and current-month comparisons are descriptive, not tests of statistical significance.
7. **$4,000 threshold:** A close below $4,000 means an observed M1 bid close strictly below 4000. It is not a claim about every broker, an ask quote, a futures contract, or a London benchmark.
8. **Missing time:** No missing minute is forward-filled. Closed-market intervals are absent. Candle counts describe observed bid bars, not an assertion that every wall-clock minute should trade.

## Limitations

- Bid OHLC only; no ask prices, spread, volume, slippage, commission, swap, or executable fills.
- Float32 prices can differ slightly from a vendor interface that rounds at display time.
- UTC calendar bars can differ from broker D1 candles, COMEX gold futures, LBMA benchmark prices, and retail bullion prices per gram.
- This is descriptive historical evidence. It does not identify why gold moved and does not predict a future price.

This is descriptive historical market data. It is not personal financial advice, a trading signal, a price target, a causal account of June, or evidence that a strategy would have made money.
